A week after winning the CFP national championship game along with Clemson’s stifling defense, linebacker Ben Boulware brought a whole new double-meaning to the term “achilles heel.” It was a cheeky response to an earlier slight from ESPN’s Desmond Howard.

Boulware, of course, was throwing shade at ESPN analyst and former Heisman winner Howard. Boulware tweeted a screenshot from theclemsoninsider.com about Howard calling Clemson’s linebackers the “achilles heel” of the defense during the Nov. 5 College GameDay broadcast.
In last Monday night’s natty, Boulware piled up six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a pass defended. Not bad for the team’s achilles heel.
Boulware got full revenge on this one. You gotta give to him for being totally creative.
Knowing the usually good-natured Howard, we’re sure he’ll take it in the chin. As of Tuesday night, Howard had yet to respond.
