North Carolina’s Larry Fedora reportedly turned down an offer to return to his home state to coach Houston. That was before Tuesday’s news that Lane Kiffin would get the job.

Fedora was previously linked to the Baylor vacancy, but wasn’t rumored to be of interest to Houston. Some reported he wanted the Baylor job while others indicated he didn’t. Bleacher Report’s Jason King reported that Baylor didn’t even interview the College Station-native.
The 54-year-old Fedora has built up a nice 40-24 record over five seasons in Chapel Hill. He spent four years at Southern Miss before that, going 34-19.
As for Kiffin, there’s even conflicting reports out there now that he might not end up with the Cougs.
